Electric Cigarettes Are More Dangerous To The Heart Than Normal Cigarettes, Really?

The pros and cons of the side effects of e-cigarettes are still an interesting research topic. Most recently, the study revealed a comparison of the risk of heart disease between e-cigarettes and conventional cigarettes.

The team of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center researchers at an event titled the American Heart Association scientific conference in Los Angeles, United States recently found that e-cigarettes are actually more dangerous for the heart. Is it true?

The team had to do a comparison of 10 non-smoker heart conditions, 10 electric smokers, and 10 conventional smokers.

They are all under 40 years old and in good health. When asked to do light exercise, non-smoker blood flow works well. While the flow of conventional smokers' blood flow continues to work.

But among electric smokers, there has been no improvement at all.

"This shows that e-cigarettes cause abnormalities that can inhibit the regulation of blood flow in the heart," Dr. Florian Rader, research co-author, and cardiologist at the Smidt Heart Institute Cedars-Sinai.

Many people associate smoking with lung cancer, even though heart disease is strongly associated with smoking and has killed more people in America every year.

Through a 2014 report from the Office of Surgeon General, smoking is the cause of about one in four cardiovascular deaths in the US each year. And if e-cigarettes are worse for the heart than tobacco cigarettes, the health implications of e-cigarettes will be huge.

However, Rader said that the study that his team did was still very small to get a satisfying answer. He and his team also claimed not to control the condition of the heart and the blood flow of electric smokers who use liquids containing THC, a marijuana compound that is accused of being harmful to health.

"For electric smokers, I think this is evidence of another warning, and this is also justification for a larger research study," he said.

For information, about two thousand more US citizens are sick due to electric cigarettes since March 2019. Many of them are young adults and teenagers with 40 of them dead.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention or CDC announced that the pandemic originated from a common compound found in e-cigarettes, namely vitamin E acetate, which is used as a thickening agent in e-cigarette liquids.
